Does anyone know what the security light is for on the gauge cluster? mine keeps going off every now and then i have a 94 3.4L.....also how do you clear codes i replaced my EGR valve and the code still pops up ive taken the battery cable off for a min but didnt work

 

does the security light pop on while driving? for the codes, disconnect the battery for about thirty minutes or so.

 

yes and it will also come on when i start it.....ive tried disconnecting it already

 

did you replace the stereo recently? some GM factory radios have some kind of anti-theft system you're supposed to disable before you remove it. I didn't do this on my Grand Am before I started messing with it, and now my security light is on sometimes too.
