Rough idle
Hey guys I have a question. The camaro im gonna buy has a real bad idle when its sitting still but when you give it a lil gas it smoothes out. it doesnt back fire or miss and when you drive it it has all the power in the world. Well, the guy im getn it from scanned the cars computer and one of the codes came up Throttle position sensor and multiple cylinder misfire. It cant be wires crossed or timing off bc it has great power. But I read on the internet where the throttle position sensor is pre-adjusted and if its off it will cause the motor to run like crap. DO you guys think that's what the problem is I mean is idles so rough at a stand still it shakes the whole car

I would be leaning more toward plugs, wires, or coil paks but I would get the code numbers and research a little deeper. The timing for these cars are set by the cam position sensor and crank sensor.

Rough idle is usually an indication of misfire, or too low an idle speed. Could be ignition, fuel, or a mechanical problem resulting in low compression. A scanner should indicate which cylinder is misfiring, and give you a starting point.
