Default Rearview mirror

Got my car towed to have some work done to it. Rearview mirror is now just hanging. How do I put it back on? Do I slide it on or with glue?

Depends on how it fell off. If the button is still on the glass then just slide it back on. If the button came off then there are a few things that need to be done.

1. Go to local autopart store and buy a mirror glue kit for about $3

2. Get a new sharp razor blade and scrape old glue off windshield and old mirror button (should still be attached to the mirror)

3. Remove mirror button from mirror (unplug mirror if you have not done so already)

4. Mark on the glass with tape where you want the button to be placed. (factory placement is best)

5. Use window cleaner and clean button and glass really good. Do not touch mounting surface of button once you clean the button.

6. Use the "primer" of the kit you bought on both the button and glass.

7. This step is very important! If you do not follow this step EXACTLY you will not have a secure mount and the mirror will fall off again.
Place one drop of the glue about the size of a split pea on the mirror button, and place button on glass where you want it. Hold for about 1 minute.

8. After a minute or so the glue will set up enough to hold the button in place. Now place tape over the button to hold to glass. Walk away and come back in a few hours. (overnight is best)

9. Reattach mirror. dont forget to plug the mirror back in.

that should do it. If you use too much glue the center will not ever harden, which is bad, because after a few hot days this summer the part that stays liquid will expand and eventually push the button off the glass.

Sell it and upgrade it if you like with Temp, Compass, Autodim and Homelink if you like -- now you have the perfect excuse to update...

^ No, a new harness is needed and usually included, and the temp sensor goes through the firewall and mounts in the front of the car... Ask me how I know.

Upload it to a free websharing site, such as Rapidshare.
