The Ultra Z scoop is at the front of the intake while the SS hood scoop is behind the intake. More air gets to the intake in the Ultra Z because the air travels to the intake directly from the scoop.

Barely. In order for you to get a noticable increawse in power from pressurized air (based on your speed alone) you would need to be going icredibly fast. There are TONS of debates on LS1tech about ram air and cold

No, the Ultra Z hood dumps the air in front of the air box as well:

The funny part about the "ram air" hoods is that most of them dont put the intake in the right place. The car builts up a low pressure zone in front of the nose and the faster the car goes the lower the pressure is and therefore the less actual air gets into the intake. Bottom breathers like our Camaros need the plastic air dam under the car for this very reason. Having the intake scoop near the middle to rear of the hood would be alot better than right in the front. Also raising the scoop up a few inches will also pick up the air that is pushed up above the low pressure zone. This is the real reason that there are barely noticable gains from the "ram air" hoods.
