radiator problems

Default radiator problems

so i finally flushed my radiator and refilled it and my car is still running real hot i just dont know what to do is it possible my radiator just istn working efficiently?

i kinda have the same problem my car was running fine i flushed the radiator still ran good, then i decided to put a 160 degree thermastat and it ran cooler for about a week then slowly the temp started to get a little higher every day. i just dont get it.

Make sure to get all the air bubbles out, and verify that the fans run when it overheats. The fans should come on and hold the temp below 220. Other possibilities, clogged radiator (have it tested), slipping water pump belt, engine damage such as a blown head gasket, missing air dam.

The 160 degree stat will not keep the engine any cooler in traffic. It only works if enough air is blowing through the radiator, and that won't happen until the temp reaches around 220 when the PCM turns on the fans.

i am missing my air dam and the problem diud start after that could it be that simple that thats wat cause it its the plastic peice underneath right?

Yes. The plastic 'scrape magnet' as I liked to call it channels the air through the radiator core.
