ya you will need to change the wiring harness and the guages are differant for the 3.4 and 3.8 you may need a gauge cluster and cpu as well

Yes yes yes yes. You'd be better off selling it and getting another 3.8... How did you blow the engine?

SELL IT ALL!!!!!!! Sell the F-in car, your house, your dog, your collegebooks and buy a V8. Then gut the cat and then get headers. This is the answer to everything on this f-in site.

^^^ in this case it will probably be cheaper and less of a headache to actually sell the 3.4 and go for his original motor.

I wouldn't put that 3.4 in, but you aren't going to get much for that engine if you sell it. It would be less work in my opinion to put a 3.8 back in, and probably cheaper by the time it's all said and done.

I just got done replacing the 3.8 in my sons car. I was able to find a good used 3.8L, with only 37K mi. Cost me $1100, could have gotten one for $900, but I wanted the low miles. Founda speed shop in town to swap in for $1000. Now the car runs really nice again.

I think this is the way to go. If you are lucky you can pick up a good used engine. And if you are handy you can swap it yourself, but I gotta caution you. the engine comes out the bottom. Not an easy task if you don't have a lift.

I found a good write up on the engine swap on one of these forums. If I find it again I will post the link.
