Default A problem I think

I have a 95 3.4 liter V-6 Standard. Between 55 and 65 i hear a howl that seems to come from the exhaust? It gets quieter at higher speeds and I hear it wheather I am in 4th or 5th. Also I do a lot of driving and have to turn it off and on a lot. Would it be better for the AC to just leave it on when I turn the car off? I am a pizza driver (for the moment lol) I keep my ac on usualy or have to turn it on because where I live its hot and my fan doesnt turn on unless its on... my temp gauage has gotten a little above half way and i did not want it to go any further so I turned on the ac. Because with the ac on it stays at the quater mark or a little above on the temp guage.
Also what are the kind of things I should be looking for and paying attention to on this car?

Thanks

I had the same problem..I have 94 3.4L...My cuz checked my coolant sensor ( fan switch ) and that was the problem. It cost like $25 at your local car parts store. It's easy to install, just remember the car MUST be completely cold before you remove the old sensor. Then you can get a thermostat from hypertech ( Racing part stores usually carry them ) it will turn on your fan at a lower temp..(160 degree thermostat). Problem should cease.

I checked it and it looks ok. It has minor cracks here and there but nothing major.
Should I still change it? and do performance pulleys add anything on these cars?

Thanks

The howling sounds like its coming from my muffler or from that area.

well...any cracks in your belt you should change it. As for perfomance pulley's if you live in a hot area I wouldn't do it because it draws power away from other accessories..like your a/c. If I were you take your car to a local muffler shop have them put it on a lift and see if you have a small crack or leak from your pipes. I had a 95 ford mustang and it was making the same sound...and when they put a blue light on my pipes they found a leak. once they welded it, problem gone.
