Did you have to rewire the harness for the new stereo? What you are describing sounds like a possible fault with the Body Control Module (BCM).

no it had an old harness that fit with the new sterieo wires and i hooked them up and tryed to play it and all that happen and i thought it was the alternater cause the plug with the one possative wire that pluges into it was hanging loose so i fixed that but that problem was still happening .how hard would it be to install a body control module?

I'm sorry, I mentioned the wrong module. It's the Retained Accesory Power (RAP) module.

The BCM is for the lights and such.

The RAP module is the one causing your problems. I had the same problem in my 99

There is a pic I found. Below is a quote of what he said to test it.

If you want to pin down your problems to the RAP, unplug it and in the harness plug, jumper the brown wire to the dark blue and the pink. Turn on the key and see if all your stuff works. If it does, the RAP is to blame. If you want to dig inside it, you might be lucky like one guy I helped. He found a burned circuit tracing on the board inside. He soldered up the open tracing and it was back to working again.
