I used to do power steering flushes at a service station where I worked. They are not very popular because most manufacturers have not included them in maintenance schedules until recently. We didn't do too many of them because they are kind of pricey and most people didn't see the point. I guess it all depends on the age/mileage of vehicle and your willingness to spend the money. You probably won't notice a difference in anything except the fluid being cleaner. If its a higher mileage car and the steering is getting tough, give it a shot. If not, I would pass it up (IMO).

Just wait for the pump to go out and it will get new fluid then.
Will your next post be about brake fluid flush???

I have a 1995 Camaro 3.4L and, yes, I have heard about a power steering and brake fluid flush.Toml14 is right and that until recently manufacturers didn't include flushes for the power steering or the brake fluid because they probably figured that they are closed systems, and they will be flushed when a part leaks for fails. As for me I see it as preventative maintenance. The last time Ruby's oil was change I noticed that the power steering fluid looked burnt even though everything works fine. So I figure I'll buy a gallon of power steering fluid and a fitting to block off the line that I took off of thepump and then just let it run through.There-flushed. I can do that for $10 as opposed to the $75-$100 it will cost for a pump and $20-$35 for a belt. To me it just makes sense. I hope that my opinion helped.

The power steering fluid can break down just like the oil in your sealed shocks. But It is not going through the same type of "abuse" as your tranny, engine or shocks do.
And I was not joking about the brake fluid flush. I have done it for years. My fluid is usualy so clean some people think the resivour is empty because they are not used to seeing clean fluid in any.
