Default power chips for 1999 3.8..fact or fiction??

G Day All, Is there really a good chip for a daily driver? I was told chips work "wide open only" AND there are mostly seperators...seperating you from your money! Any thoughts?? Tks 4 your time....

Fiction

In 1994 the Computer in the camaro was upgraded from a ECU to a PCM. A PCM has programable memory that the computer uses to store the software profile for the engine mapping. You dont need a chip you just need to rewrite the profile.

The older ECU had the program for the fuel and ignition written to the main chip that took special equipment to erase and rewrite. In that case you replaced the chip to change your performance.

if your talking about the inline chips then they are a scam. stay away. like massey says, send pcm to a place like pcmforless and have it tuned for your needs.
