Question Please Help, I'm Lost on What's Going On!

I have a 1994 V6 that has 174,000 miles on it. Up until yesterday it has been the best running car I've ever owned. When I was on my way home from work I went to hit the gas to gain speed on the interstate. When the car geared down to drastically speed up, it hit 50 mph and started sputtering and the whole car shook. I laid it to the floor and it stopped. Now everytime I hit fifty and it drops that to that lower gear it sputters like it wants to die. Please help!!

How many miles ago was the last time you changed plugs and wires and other tuneup parts? Checked your fuel pressure? Any codes?

Ever replace the fuel filter? Sure you routed the wires properly? NOID tested the fuel injectors? Try adding a few tanks of fuel system cleaner like Lucas'. Spray the butterfly valve with some cleaner to remove gum/varnish.

How about tranny fluid. When was it last changed? Sound like your tranny isn't shifting properly.

3800Camaro may have a point, what did you mean by "it stopped"? Stopped the engine, or just stopped accelerating? Depending, you may have worn clutches in the trans...

Sounds like the OD or TC to me. Stall test may be in order.
