I would flush the coolant with some Prestone flush. Same thing happened to my girlfriend, and then to me when driving. I believe that with that little coolant, some flashes to steam. Steam in pipes doesn't transfer heat as well as liquid water. That's why I believe you can't feel the heat anymore. I flushed it first, somewhat helped. Then I replaced the water pump (after finding area of leak), then the tensioner assembly (because I broke it), but whatwas leaking was a little plastic elbow that goes fromunder the intake manifold neck to the tensioner. No more overheating. 3.8 or 3.4?

Mine has been overheating latly... It did it the first time a few weeks ago.. it needed a new fitting on the hose... it started doing it again this past week, I replaced the thermostat in it... it seems to be running fine now.... check those two things
