oil pressure

Default oil pressure

hello when i start the carit has 60 ilbs oil pressure and when i run it hard for a lil the pressure drops to 20 ilbs i dont think this is normal.if this is a problem can someone turn me to the right direction to fix this problem 1994 camaro 3.4l auto.

Is the 20 lbs. at idle when the engine is up to running temp? If so, that's pretty much in the "normal and acceptable" range for an older car. But if it drops down into the danger zone, you could have excessive bearing wear, or the sending unit could even be bad.

Make sure you are running the right weight of oil per the owners manual but if it is high mileage, like Camaro 69 says, it could be bearing clearance.

I had the same issue in my 95 3.4L. The people before me that owned it barely screwed the sending unit in causing it to read wrong and leak oil. Once I replaced it, it brought it up to the 60-70's range.
