Default Oil pressure

Yesterday i was changing the oil in my 2000 3.8 and i broke the pressure sending unit because i freaking looked at it wrong ( i barely bumped it with the filter wrench) so after replacing that and changing the oil the pressure has jumped up from about 65 to around 95 and i dont know if that is from the new oil or if maybe the old unit was sending the pressure wrong or a combination of the two..if im over reacting thats great but i dont want to ignore a problem..

(forgive the puntuation and/or spelling im on an ipod and its not a great thing to type)

My guess would be that the new sending unit is messed up. 95 PSI is to high for a stock oil pump with a stock regulator. Does it drop after the car gets warmed up?

My guess was maybe the wrong sensor..only problem is..the only auto zone around is in that town and i work a 9-5 on every week day..is it a big deal if i just let it go and have 95 be my new normal pressure? And no yhe pressure stayed the same on the short drive i took today and yesterday..i have about a 45 minute drive in the morning for work so ill post back tommorow.

Does the pressure switch have any part # markings on it that you can reference to the package it came in? Then you can look up the part at AutoZone online like this: Oil Pressure Switch and see whether you have the right part or not. If you got the "right" one, then it's faulty.

the pressure actually did come a little closer to normal when it warmed up...but still high...i looked online today (not very well ony a couple places) and it would seem that i havethe right part..any ideas now? i read that ac delco had some filters that were no good..think maybe that is theissue?

i tend to believe 69, take the sensor back and get another. if it still stays high then it may be something else or nothing at all. when i used a fram with synthetic oil my pressure went down until i replaced it with a purilator. cant spell.

And stay away from the "orange" Fram oil filters. They have a poor bypass design.
