I have an oil leak, not a bad leak but just enough to where you end up smelling burning oil for a 5-10 seconds every 50 miles or so. The drive way is not covered in oil where I park it but the are a few spots. When I crawled under the car and looked it appeared to be coming from somewhere around the head gasket on the passengers side. Well I know there is no oil that actually passes threw the head gasket, in fact oil only passes threw the intake in a couple of places I think. Also there is no oil under pressure in the intake is there? I can say this I changed the oil two weeks ago and there was no water in the oil and I replaced the plastic water bypass pipes on the belt tensioner last weekend so there was no oil in the water either. I also see no oil on top of the intake. This should just be a valve cover gasket shouldn't it? I ask because it seems I have read here that the intake manifold gaskets are prone to blowing.

Intake gaskets are prone to leaking but that is coolant. It is possible that the intake gasket at the end of the intake is leaking oil, it is also possible that your valve covers are leaking and it is possible that any one of a hundred different places are leaking and it is being blown to where you are seeing it. You need to clean the engine good. Jack the car up real high and just let it idle and watch to see where it is coming from. It is what your mechanic would have to do. Anything else is just a guess.
