Default is this normal?

whenever i have my AC on, the motor makes its regular sound and makes a whine when i accelerate. the whine goes up and down along with my engines rpms. when i dont have it on, its just the plain old motor sound. is this normal? note: ive had my 97 v6 camaro since it was new, but a week ago i hada newAC compressor put in because the old one was leaking. this is the first time it has worked properly since 05. i cant remember if my car did this then, so i just need to know if its normal or not.

No whine is normal. Did you used to hear a whine when the old compressor was still working? It could be either the compressor itself, or it could be an alternator that's seen better days and starts to groan from the extra load of the cooling fan that kicks on with the A/C. Try looking under the hood and raise the rpm's of the engine till you hear the whine, and track it down.

ok first off i dont remember if it did that or not with my old compressor because i just had a new compressor put in. the old onehad beenleaking for 2 years, and when i discovered it, i stopped using my AC and just drove with my windows down whenever it was hot; so therefore, it had been2 years since i last drove with my AC on.Secondly, im also having problems with my volts randomly dropping, especially when im using my AC, so the alternator problem could very well be a possibility. think thats true?
