Default noob with race issues

hey guys im a noobie to the forum with a 3.4l camaro coupe that runs really well and is in pretty good condition. i have a problem though, i beat my friend's t-bird the other day but today i raced another friends bonneville and lost (i know, weak). can any of you guys tell me what i can do to squeeze more hp outta her for relatively cheap? i already researched the k&n filtercharger and something electronic from velocity inc at a place called 20horsepower.com, but is this legit or are there other things i can do in the $20-$200 range?

i would stay away from the $20 "chip mods" its a resistor you can get at an electronics store for about 50 cents, and thats all its worth. you want cheap HP? i can help you out with only 3 letters... N.O.S...

thanks guys, hey i researched that hypertech chip and im just curious which one would i buy. would it be the one for 84-95 gm vehicles containing standard carrier chips? the only camaro specific ones i saw were for the v8 engines. what do you suggest?

well mostly any aftermarked chip is better than the weak one in there. but like patrick said, the "speed resistors" are just junk. see what JEGS has to offer, or RKSPORT they are usually good with the 4th gens
