Default Need Some Advice On An Engine Rebuild.

A short background.

Recently a group of friends and I came into possession of one of our friends old Camaros. It currently doesn't run and before he had an accident he was talking about rebuilding it for his son. We want to keep the car as close to his as possible (so no engine swaps) however some modifications aren't out of the question. I've been using Ftpp.net to gather a list of parts and would like some critique on if it's all compatible or if something will work better with something else etc... Money is not an obstacle. Car is a 94 3.4L.

Comp Cams Cam Set:
Lifters
Springs/Retainers
Locks
Stem Seals
Timing chain set
Intake/Exhaust 226/236 @.050
Lift with 1.5 Rocker .463/.474
Angle 112

Comp Cams Rocker Arm/Pushrod set:
1:6:1 or 1:52:1 (Not sure which we want/need)

Ross Racing Pistons:
Dish or Dome or Flat. (Not sure which will give us the best compression ratio)

Manley Connection Rods/Bearings:
Aluminum Ultralight

Exhaust: We decided with Magnaflow. We just aren't sure if we want to go with the 2 1/2" IP or 3" IP. I know I've seen some V6 cars with dual pipes that sound like damn ricers.

Induction: SLP CAI

Hypertech 160 degree thermo

The best compression ratio will depend on what your goal is. I admire your desire to do this right but you are just working on one od the most limited V6 motors GM built. The problem is the flow thru the heads. Even with port and polish they do not flow well. You really want to make sure you research the Cam you install. If it is much higher lift then stock then it designed for higher RPMs. If your heads do not support the higher RPMs then you engine will have less HP with the bigger cam. There is not a lot of info on the RWD 3.4 there are a lot of parts out there designed for the FWD 3.4 and many will fit but like I said they will not help much. I have yet to read about anyone that has been happy with their modded Camaro 3.4. Most people would not be happy with 15 plus seconds in the 1/4.

The FWD version of the 3.4 uses a aluminum head that has decent flow and can be ported to have good flow.

Would a head swap be possible? If so, what heads would work and what kind of modifications would need to be done?

I have seen many people talk about the swap and I have even seen threads started where a lot of money was spent, but I have yet to see one finished with a dyno. If anyone knows of one could we please post a link.

It would be great if we could get a member to do it and document how easy or hard it is.
