Cool mystery hose

I just had a friend of mine replace a crank shaft in my 1998 3.8L v6 automatic Camaro due to a spun bearing. Now I have a new set of problems. Currently im trying to figure out where one end of a hose should be connected. The hose in question is black, flexible, about a 1/4 of an inch thick with about 1/8 of an inch inside for either gas, air, exhaust, or a liquid to flow through. It reaches all the way to the top passenger side of the engine and retreats down under the fire wall and disappears above the transmission pan. If anyone has any idea what this is and were it goes it would be greatly appreciated.
