sparkplugs ( could not be gapped right or need new ones ) could be crosswired. check to see if the gasket is leaking. tighten up exhaust bolts. check all the basics first.

No it won't. The only O2 sensors that have to do with how your car runs have nothing to with emissions or the cat. The O2 sensor after the cat will be upset and throw a code, but that is it.

how old are your spark plug wires? they could be arc-ing if they are old and have small cracks. if you have not changed them very recently then do this....
either wait till night/dark out or open the hood and cover it with a blanket so you leaning in to engine compartment is dark, then start the car and take a spray bottle with water in it and spray all off your spark plug wires... if they are bad and arc-ing then you should see little blue flashes and if so, get some new wires and be sure to wire them correctly and run the wires so they are not touching anything hot!
