we all have em. so long as you dont have to pass any emission tests or inspections then you dont need it.

air pump only runs on warm up, after a couple minutes it shuts off. its to help keep the 02 sensors from fouling.

a 93 will not care about the smog/air pump. The OBDI system had no way to monitor it. You should be ok without it.

On the 3.4 V6 cars only the manual transmission version got the air pump (electric) mounted to the frame rail below the ABS unit. All the automatic cars I've seen do have the wiring in the underhood fuse block/relay area. They don't have the pump though. Nor do they have the big hose and stainless pipe or the fitting that goes into the RH exhaust manifold. That stuff is strictly manual trans.
