misfire question
Start your car and let it run for about 5 minutes. Then, smell your exhaust. A bad cat. will put out an terrible smell. sort of like rotten eggs. Anyway, if you dont get that smell, then its probably not the problem, and a bad cat usually causes aP0300 code multiple misfire. I would suggest changing your spark plugs, and wires. And maybe even the coil pack that corresponds with cylinder 6.
My car never had cat problems and I was plagued by a P0300 code for a month or so. Check all spark plug connections and wires. Make sure they're okay, with no cracks or carbon tracking. Make sure they're routed correctly (behind the block, and up underneath the exhaust manifolds) and make sure they're not tied together in any fashion. Like Pete said, check plug and wire number one, along with the corresponding coilpack, given that this system is indeed a waste spark ignition.
