master or slave
just purchased a 98 camaro and completely went through the motor and transmission. it has 100K miles on it. i installed a new clutch kit but didn't replace the slave cylinder. it's a v6 with a 5 speed. my question is.. what usually goes out? the master cylinder or slave? i'm getting a noise when i push the clutch down and i can barely go into reverse. *throw out bearing was replaced* Any help would be appreciated.
If one is bad you should be able to see signs of fluid leakage. Check inside the car for the master. look around for pealing paint caused by fluid leaking. Or maybe it just needs to be bled.
well... i already bled the system. one of the techs seem to think it's the master cylinder. that it's not delivering enough fluid to the slave. but i did see signs of the slave leaking. it just didn't act the same way my truck did when the slave cylinder was leaking. thats why i was wondering.
I'm no expert on this, but I thought that the slave cylinder had it's own fill source for safety issues. I can't see a brake cylinder feeding a clutch cylinder. Just an opinion.
the brake cylinder doesn't feed the slave. i was talking about the master cylinder for the clutch. you have the resivoir, master cylinder, and slave cylinder... but anyway. thanks for everyone's help. i figure out what it was. must have been an air bubble in there... had to bleed it a bit more and pump the pedal 16000343 times haha. thanks.
