I have a 95' 3.4 v6 with 96,000 miles on it and i have had the car for about 5 months. ever since i have owned the car i have heard a knocking sound from the engin. The past owner and i have been regular with oil changes. i dont hear it after i get an oil change but after i drive the car about 1500 miles or so the sound comes back. any body have an idea what it is?

 

Your car leak or burn any oil?

 

Oil thins out after a while, especially if the rings are worn and there is a lot of blow by, or misfires allow raw gasoline to seep into the crakcase. Try a heavier grade of oil, like 10W40 instead of 5W30, and see if it still knocks.

 

not that i see the oil pressure seams to be okay as well

 

I was recomended to use 20w50 and that is what i have been using also i just drove the car today and was hearing a rattling sound when the car shifts into higher gears when i reach about 40mph or so. i don't know much about cars in general but i do know that something dosen't sound right
