Are K&N air intakes worth it?

RE: Are K&N air intakes worth it?
I think the SLP http://slponline.com (see induction section under your model car) units are better, I just bought one ( http://marylandspeed.com has the best price), and they are metal, so you are less likely to have a heat warp problem near the worm-clamp knuckle like the one I bought off ebay and had refunded (the seller was missing parts and did not tell me about the heat-warp damage).

More air in and more air out of your engine will always be better -- and you will likely notice the CAI -- if you get a good one -- more power... I noticed in when I added one to both my 01 SS and my 95 3.4L... I also found out that the SLP CAI for the 95 3.4L used to be a dealer installed option on the car...
Check http://marylandspeed.com for the best SLP prices I found, unless you can find it on ebay...

No
It wont get you 18hp, more like 3 or 4 being a stock engine (I assume)...
My CAI is a ebay kit "Chrome Intakes" that I modified and extended into the fenderwell, total cost was $80 for the same thing if not better than the K&N brand kit (and the kit i bought came w/ the same K&N cone filter)

Keep in mind the Dyno results:
are for a 5.7L and a 1996 at that, so your results will likely be less impressive, but still an improvement... Call them up and ask the details for the 3.4L, call SLP too...

I'm looking to make 1st mods to my 95' 3.4L V6, i found a K&N intake that promises 18.29 HP @ 5331 RPM, but the listed price is $243.25. Is the intake worth the asking price?

I'm gonna say... summitracing.com has the k&n for 214 before shipping($15) #KNN-57-3010-1
I got the moroso kit, which i love, basically the same thing as k&n... $195 before shipping($15) #MOR-65845
I LOVE my moroso... it sounds deeper, has a nice whine to it and is about twice as large as the stock tubing!
