i was just wondering the gains of adding an cold air intake hp wise and gas mileage wise i have a 3.8 v6 1998 camaro and was also wondering about tuning the ecm. what would the benefits be just a question i was thinking about tuning the car and adding some headers and good exausht i dont want a race car but would like just alittle more kick

 

you will only see 1-2 hp increase,nothing noticeable.you will see around 2 mpg more

 

money wisely spent would be on the exaust system then, a good set of headers and pipes would probably the better money then and maybe just a good k&n air filter
and what about having the computer custom tuned what effect would that have? is it a good idea i dont want to screw up the car just want it to run at it optimum level without hurting it.

 

well a cai is a good way to help the car breathe better, its the first reccomended mod to do

 

ok thank you, i'm sorry i'm old school i'm used to the older camaro's i have a 75 and a 77 havent really ever worked or even wanted to mess with a new computerized car at all but i'm finding out that i have been living in the dark

the k&n one is around $200, moroso also has one.there are a few brands out there but they are around the same price.or you can go and get the cheap ebay one, i wouldnt reccomend it but its another option

 

I say this every time i see a CAI thread lol, but i have the SLP CAI. Ive had it for about 7 months now and have no complaints. I recommend it. Btw check out sites like: autopartswarehouse.com, slponline.com, hawksthirdgenparts.com, Ftpp.net, the list goes on lol.

 

SLP has a CAI for your car... Try ebay or Google the part # for a better price...
