First time poster, long time lurker

Anywho, I've just bought my very first camaro on my own and now I've come to the point where I need to take care of a few things.

First off, I don't know too much about Camaros, just the basics. I've done some research on my Camaro and came up with some interesting things. I would guess my Camaro came with factory keyless entry, and/or alarm system. When I purchased the car I received one set of keys and one remote. The remote doesn't look factory, but the original factory remote may have been lost or destroy somehow. So I did some lookin' around and I found on the upper dash a round bevel and a small red led light (which I thought is the light for the alarm).

I armed the system and stared at the light and nothing happened. The only time the led light flashed was when the doors would be open. Right there I was confused up the ****. So I did some more lookin' and found under the driver side dash two wires. The first wire is red and blue and at the end is a led red light. The other is a black and white set going into a small button. I pushed the button nothing happened, either car running or off. The led light I found does blink when the system is armed.

I figured no big whoop about it. Now, my first question is how do I take the dash apart to get to the upper dash about 5 inches upon the passenger airbag? The second is, what the hell do I have? A combo of factory and aftermarket?

I would suggest that you get a Haynes manual for your year Camaro. The larger chain auto shops usually carry these. Cost about $20 and can save you much more than that.
