Default Info on turbocharging 3.1

Ive been looking into this but havent been able to find anything... my 1990 camaro is a 3.1 and i was thinking it would be cool to turbo or twin turbo it because noone has that and it would be a good sleeper. I contemplated putting in the 350 from my Trans Am since the T/A's body isnt in the best shape. The camaro is flawless aside from some minor surface rust. this would limit me to 1 car and the camaro is pretty reliable and i dont want to mess it up by welding new mounts and then just tearing it up with the added weight and power. Any help would be great thanks.

to my knowledge there is only one person currently making a turbo kit for the 2.8,3.1 motors in our 3rd gens and his name is doward, he is a memeber of tgo, also know as thirdgen.org, it is selling for 3130, complete and well worth it,when i say complete, i mean it has EVERYTHING you need, turbo wastgate, bov, reprogrammed ecm, manifolds, y pipe, injectors,, brackets, bolts,. basically when you buy his kit, you don't need to buy other stuff for it, and it makes one hell of a difference on our motors, i was going to buy one back in jan. but ended up buying my fiance a ring, lol. check out tgo, and search turbo in the v6 boards, email him, and he will give you all the info you need, happy to help.

In 1989 Pontiac offerd a turbo option for the 3.1, but it only produced 205 HP wirh aroud 8lb boost. We tricked the computer to allow 20lb, went like hell and then everithing came out the bottom. Today.s engines put out arond 180HP and can get a reliable 200hp with a few mods, such as cold air intake and good exhaust. You should be able adapt the heads and manifolds of a 3500 used in W body cars, ( these are pretty good heads with canted valves and the ibtake is similiar to a TPI) but you might run into problems with the accerory drives

Did a search for "Infl rest" in yahoo, found that it is due to a contact getting dirty for the airbag sensor, apparently a common problem on our 90's models. INFL REST=Inflatable Restraint a.k.a. Airbag
