Default ECU Info

Finally got my car read for codes because it's been running really bad. Found out the ECU is bad on it and actually dropped off a couple of times while they were trying to read it. So my question is this; Has anyone ever replaced an ECU? If so, how difficult is it to do? And are there any special tools? Basically, would someone with minimal mechanical skills be able to do this?

Also, does anyone know of any sites to get a good performance ECU?

It's pretty easy. Don't remember the size socket you need, but that is all you will need. After that just unplug the old one, and plug the new one in. You don't buy a performance ECU, but tuning software or a handheld to update your ECU. What kind year and engine do you have, so we can suggest a good tuning option.

Oh I see. Thank you. That's very helpful. It's a 1994 Z28 with the 350 LT1.

Try www.pcmforless.com. Alot of people on here, as well as other sites recommend them. It's basically a mail order tune. You tell them your mods, and what you're looking for, and they'll hook you up. Or if you would like to do it yourself, I believe you can use a program called LT1edit.

I see. Thank you. I've actually heard a lot of people use them. Don't know why I didn't think of that.
