Default igntion coils

what is a good brand for ignition coils? Also what the benefits of upgrading my ignition coils?? thanx in advance

They don't need upgading. The coil pack will handle any RPM that engine can muster. If you want new ones, put in a set of OEM Delco, they cost a few bux more, but very reliable. The ignition module under the coil pack is the troublesome item.

So are you saying that MSD coils and a MSD ignition (say 6A for example) doesn't do anything? I agree coil packs alone aren't going to do any good unless you get an MSD ignition for it. but In combo with the ignition it's going to burn cleaner and the plugs won't foul out as much as they do usually.

My point is that this engine unless it has been modified to make power at over 7500 RPM in not going to need any better ignition than that provided by the stock set up. The usual reason that plugs get fouled is wrong heat range, bad ignition wires, rich fuel mixture, oil burning, or even a bad head gasket; none of which are corrected by having a stronger spark. Don't get me wrong, MSD makes good stuff, but why spend the money if it is not needed.
