Default ignition problems

I recently have gotten my car fixed only to find that when I start it it rolls over a couple of times then I hear the starter (high zinging) but does not roll over it takes me multiple times to start it I have replaced the fuel filter.

Our mind reading expert is on vacation, so you will have to explain your trouble better. I am not familiar with the term "high zinging". Changing fuel filter does not affect engine cranking, but a wrong or improperly installed filter could keep it from starting. What work was done to your car??

I am only giving an educated guess here. If your starter turns the engine over but then the engine stops turning over but the starter motor is still running at a high speed, a couple of things may be happening. First, the one way clutch in your starter drive, the device with the small gear on it, may be failing. The second area of concern is you may have teeth missing from your flywheel. If it is the starter drive, you can buy a new starter drive or get a complete starter, new or rebuilt, if your starter has alot of wear. The flywheel will need to be replaced if it is missing teeth.

If that is the problem, then SLJ has given you the solution. Personally, I would pull the starter an give it a visual once over for anything obvious, then have someone turn the engine over with a wrench on the front damper bolt & check the flywheel for missing theet. If the flywheel looks good, get a rebuilt starter. If the flywheel is missing theet, then you need to pull the transmision and clutch, and replace the flywheel.

I am new to working on cars. So woud I pull the starter out and take it to like advanced auto parts. It is located in the front covered by the exaust right. I jacked it up and had some one try to start it. It sounded like metal shavings so would I have to take the exaust off
