IAC Valve Help

alright so i changed my IAC valve today and it is still reving up to 1500 RPMs in park and in drive
i put a new o ring on and put the sensor in and started up and at first it was ok then it slowly started raisin up now it doin 1500 RPM in drive and park
was i suppose to adjust sumthin
plz help

did you reset it after putting it in?not sure on a v-6 but you are supposed to reset it on a lt-1.key off,hold gas pedal about 1/4 way in and start car.let it run about 5 seconds,shut off.remove foot and restart as normal.should reset it.think that is the way it is done.if it still revs high,might be a vacuum leak.good luck

ok i tried it and its still reving high
so how can i check for a vacum leak?

I don't know what the other guy was talking about. I've never heard of that. The only way I know of to "reset" the computer, is to disconnect the battery for thirty some odd minutes, and reconnect. To check for vacuum leaks: Some are loud enough for you to hear. Check all hoses coming from intake for cracks and such. If not, the only other way I know to check for them is to get some starting fluid, and spray around places in the intake that might be leaking. If engine revs higher, you've found it.

also could the Throttle Position Sensor need readjustment because i played with it before changin the IAC valve
like i said when i got it scanned only 2 codes came up IAC and ECT and i changed them both so all i can see it mayb a leak or the TPS could need readjustment

If you can adjust it, I would try that. Sometimes they can be put on a little off, which makes the PCM think the throttle's open, though it's not.

aw ok ill try it in the morning
just to make sure the TPS could cause high idle in park, drive, and nuetral right? because ive been reading some post tryin to figure this out

ok i changed the TPS and it is still idling high mn WTF this dont make no sense i done just about changed everything sensor wise wtf
