Default I have a question

Ive already done a few simple mods to my camaro and im still looking for more horses without spending lots.

My friend told me about these chips or modules on ebay that "supposedly" increase horsepower alot and easily.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-...Q5fAccessories

Thats the link of a chip i found on ebay and theres a ton listed, such as dif name brands and different gains but this one seems more believable than the stated +250 hp... lol...

Anyways if anyone has any experience or know if these work i'd like to know. The feedback from people on ebay is all positive so i think it may work but i thought to ask the pros first

Well I am no pro but those are usually scams. Although if you went out and bought a tuner that is obd 2 of course you could gain some horses that way. I heard that most add on chips mess with the ecu and the ecu can eventually adapt and make the chip obsolete. I'm no pro but I would just go with a tuner.

All these Items will make you car faster. The thinking behind all them is simple. Since speed is a factor of weight to HP ratio these product remove weight by making you wallet lighter. Since your the one driving they can only assume your faster. That is unless you install the part cause in many cases the part weigh more then the dollars spent.

The "Chip" as they call it tricks your computer into adding more fuel. There is two problem with that. On our cars the fuel system would keep adjusting the fuel mixture back till the O2 sensor is happy. IF you could get it to add fuel and run a rich mixture you might see a small gain but you will plug up you Car converter in no time. These things have been around for decade. I have never seen one do any improvment on a Dyno.
If it worked they would have Dyno info plastered everywhere.

Back in the early 90's someone had out a smart box that could adjust sensor values and even fug O2 signals. You could even do simple programs like if O2 sensor reads greater then .8 report a .65. It was pretty pricey.

This is one of the tuners that would actually do something. no tricking the ecu just re-programing
