How much does it cost to dyno a car? If its not going to be too much I'd like to dyno mine before and after I do the mods so that we can have hard data for these types of arguments.

Every shop is different, but Google search and join your local/state Camaro/F-Body club, many of them have an arrangement with a shop that does a "dyno day" where the dyno tests are free...

MFBA does them see:

haha.. of corse, thats 300HP rite there! gut the cat! more you brag about it the more it builds HP too!

really stig, you think it'd add 50 crank HP? i didnt think the 3.8s were that restricted stock. i can see about 235. but you have the facts not me lol.
and i thought BHP was Base Horse Power?(base meaning engine/crannk/dyno queen/ whatever. before drivetrain loss) same thing just thought the "B" ment base.
Gut the cat whats that mean?

It means to hollow out the catalytic converter. Therefore increasing exhaust flow.

wouldn't that be the same as just removing the catalytic converter
and wouldn't removing it be easier?

Just me being dumb but didn't SLP put out a RS package with several of these mods? If I remember right they only estimated a 5 HP gain.
I have 2 questions
What is a CAI?
IF I guted my cat would that screw with the before &after O2 sensor? I assumed it was looking for some change in O2 level?

Cold Air Intake (CAI). gutting the cat would only screw with the after cat sensor, as it would be the only one to see any change.

Depending on the miles and such... I'd say about 200 RWHP.

I may just be ignorant, but it seems to me that increasing inhale and exhale of a 3.8L should add more than 10 HP. Technology and exhaust components built in the early 1990s shouldn't be near comparable to the design of a modern bolt on part. But then again, I'm not a doctor, I don't know. I do, however, know that adding a SLP CAI GREATLY improved response throughout the entire powerband. Something that I don't think 3 and a quarter HP would do...
