how bad on my trany would it to be to pull a car out of a snow bank? how many lbs can a 2.8 camaro tow? can it tow a car out of a snow bank? is there a way to figure out how much a car can tow by torque readings for instance 1ft-lb =10lbs to tow I know that sounds dumb cause 120ft-lb can tow 1 lb 120 feet or 120lbs 1 foot ext

 

um get a 4x4 to do that...you'll have a hard time getting traction probably...where would you hook the tow cable?

 

well I was just cerious cause I did this with my toyota camry um I was just cerious about this cause I have towed before and my friend called and I was cerious asked me how to know how much it can tow and how i knew mine could do it I had to tell him honestly I didnt' know and I did it with my camry and I dunno if it was a good idea I know it isn't a good idea but how bad is it really ya I don't have the money I do share a camry with my faimly and dodge caravan I know my camry has one I don't think the camero has a spot but I was just cerious

In the owners manual it says for pulling a trailer it should not be over 1,000 lbs. Also when you have a trailer hitch it is tied into both rails unde the car so the force is distributed evenly. Hooking a chain to a hole in a frame rail is not the way to go. Specialy if your pulling something out of the snow.
I had a heavy duty tow truck in the shop that was bent from pulling a car out of the river. Granted it had wet mud inside the car the truck also has a heavy duty frame. It was funny. The cab was going down hill and the bed was going up hill.

 

LOL so ya it isn't a good idea hmm 1,000lbs that prob for the v8? ya I was just going hook it to the frame, I was just wanting to just pull a friend out of a lil snow mound
