How do you replace a thermostat 95 camaro

if your gauge is redlining than i would think that either A. you dont have enough coolant B. water pump is bad C. head gaskets

how do i connect 12v right to the fan??? maybe use jumper cables?? or jut bring it close to the battery and touch the 2 and see if the fan starts?? i dont want to buy a relay switch if i dont need to.. ive been trying to figure this out and everything. Its not easy. im trying to work and fix my car. anyway that would help alot!!
