has anyone installed a hi flow converter to their car? jsut wanted to know if it will set off the (ses) light?

 

It shouldn't. That's the whole point behind them. Get a little more performance and still be legal.

 

ok kool, what about chopping the converter off completely and just straight piping it, will that set it off? and another question how much less restriction is there in a hi flow than in a stock converter?

 

i would also like to know about the straight pipe since theres the o2 senser b4 an after the cat

 

Replacing it with a straight pipewill set off the SES light on OBD-II equipped cars. If you have an O2 sensor on both sides of the converter, that's what they're only purpose in life is. Monitor how the cat is doing. As to how much less restriction w/hi-flow... Just put it this way it'sonly about a 1 horsepowerdifference than the straight pipe.

 

ok kool thanks, do u know where i can buy a desent hi flow converter for a good price? and if i have to go to ebay and buy a universal fit converter what size inlet/outlet do u recommend and what other things should i take into consideration before buying one

 

I've heard good things about Magnaflow and Random Tech converters. I know Magnaflows are sold on eBay, and fairly cheap. Outletshould match whatever exhaust system you have or are going to put on. Inlet should match y-pipe of what you have (if you're sticking with what you got), or match y-pipe that will come with the headers (if you plan on getting some). That's why it's easier (if your wallet allows) to get everything at once. That way you can match everything up once. Instead of a few times.
