Default HERE A WEIRD ONE

OK GUYS:

I LIVE IN SOUTH TEXAS AND THE LOWS HIT UPPER 60'S YESTERDAY(T-TOP WEATHER I TOOK THE TOPS OFF OF MY 2001 CAMARO V6 AND WENT TO STORE THEM IN THE T-TOP RACK. MY HATCH SUPPORT ARMS ARE OUT SO I HAD A PIECE OF PIPE IN THE TRUNK AND USED THAT TO PROP THE HATCH UP. WHEN I GRABBED THE PIPE I FELT SOMETHING WET AND CHECKED MY HANDS. IT WAS A PETRO PRODUCT AND HAVE RULED OUT OIL..DOESNT SMELL LIKE IT AND WAY TO CLEAN LOOKING, IT LOOKS LIKE BRAKE FLUID. I CHECKED ALL MY FLUID LEVELS AND EVERTHING IS WITHIN SPEC. NO DRIPS OR BLOW BACK OBSERVED UNDER THE CAR AND NO PUDDLES OR DRIPS OBSERVED ON GARAGE FLOOR WHEN I CHECKED THIS AM. NOTHING IS KEPT IN MY TRUNK EXCEPT THE PIPE AND T-TOP RACK(NO LOOSE BOTTLES OF OIL, ETC). ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THE HELL THIS IS?

a mystery? lol

seriously dude, It can't really be much of anything if you don't have loose bottles in the hatch..
the ONLY thing I could think of is maybe the shocks or support arms leaked some type of fluid... but in this case it would be all over the place and not just on your pipe.

Well if the pipe has BEEN in the trunk, that means the support arms haven't worked in some time, so I would rule out anything from those because they haven't worked, meaning if anything could possibly leak from them (which I highly doubt) it would have been back when they stopped working, or near that time.

My best guess is you touched something before the pipe and didn't realize it, or something you set in your trunk had stuff on it and it got on the pipe??????

Has to be Gremlins, those slimy characters keep doing their nasty work just about forever. I wonder if they are now working for Daimler-Chrysler.
