Nah the 3.4L was the base in all states. The only changed it over in Cali in 96, then all base to 3.8 in 97... If I'm thinking correctly

This is in reference to the V6 engines offered.

i wouldnt suggest anyone ever to gut the cats. go to summitracing.com and pick up a magnaflow highflow cat for 120 or i have a 20k mile one ill let you get for like 30-40 bucks you dont have to worry about blowing your o2 sensor and its just as good.
