Gunna check out a 91 RS tomorrow...
Hi folks! I was driving around earlier after finding out some bad news on a Corvette I almost bought (SO glad I didnt,I was lied to in MANY ways about the true condition of this car).... Anyways,my 2.3 turbo coupe and I were cruisin around lookin for some rice to munch on,on a lovely sunday afternoon when I rolled by a used dealership I spotted a beautiful 1991 Camaro RS blue with black stripes,T-tops,CD w/fancy stereo setup (I'm not much in to rap and/or ungodly loud music so the subs and crap will have to go if I get the car) but it had new performance tires, some fancy rims and looked in very good condition inside and out,no rust,no dings or dents and the paint was awesome. The car also had 157,000 miles on it but certainly didnt show it,automatic, the asking price was $3250!
I've tried to do as much research as I can but in all honestly the opinions from some 3.1 v6 RS owners would really be appreciated right now. Both my sister and brother in law have purchased cars from this fella roughly a year ago with excellent results, word is he gets his cars from outta town but his cars have a high reliability rating etc.
Now,at first I was a bit put off at the idea of me in a v6 camaro but the car just looks so dang good... Plus one of my current rides is a 3,400lbs turbo 4 cyl. thunderbird lol so why not add a lighter car with two extra pistons to my little collection? Anyways my questions are:
Is that alot of miles for the 3.1?
Provided this car has been taken care of,what kind of life expectancy can one get outta the 3.1 with daily driving+occasional racing?
Research has shown roughly 140hp,strapped in to a 3,100-3,200 how do these things accelerate?
I do like the idea of gas milage vs. the v8 but being a Camaro it should have some spunk right?
Common trouble area's?
Things to look for when I check it out tomorrow? (hopefully I'll have a couple replies by then
)
How durrable is the 3.1 v6 engine and the 4 speed auto strapped to it? (how many mods can it handle?)
I'm not aiming to take down any mighty machines, just like the occasional ricetard thats gotten a little to big in the head and also to amuse myself. I enjoy crusining on the outskirts of town with the occasional throttle stab,semi-hard cornering but nothing I would call abuse so are these automobiles built quite well?
Of course this is all assuming the car has been treated as good as it looks, but is that a good price?milage?performance?issues? as these are my main concerns.
I really appreciate any advice,I sure would enjoy owning a Camaro like my mother before me,a 76 maro/350sb with enough power to scare you badly... Then she had my sister and I and the toys had to go lol.
Thanks!

miles are good for that year. I sold a'95 with 116k on it and I got 3500.00 for it. Also check behind the motor for oil. That motor had a problem with oil coming out the back from the gasket going bad.
My original Camaro was a 93' V6 , when I traded it in ........... it had 198k miles on it and the dealer when he drove it to give me the trade in value on , noted how much power it had for a V6 and how it was still doing so well for how many miles it had on it and he ended up giving me 5,500 on a trade in. God how I loved that car and babied the crap out of it.
So I am sure that if this previous owner babied it as you say it looks then I am sure that you are going to get your moneys worth.

Well I got to check it out and take it for a test drive and I'm gunna try to buy it. About the car though,it was a little dusty under the hood but not dirty (the hood latch was crooked so you have to becarful how you shut the hood but thats minor IMO) and I couldnt find any leaks or cracks or troubled areas either. The car has been repainted and the transmission was rebuilt not to long ago (it shifts sooo smoothly). Engine runs great (said they did a full tune up) and I must say I was quite impressed with the pep that little 3.1 has especially compared to my Tbird. Took little effort for this Camaro to hit the speed limit. Being only twenty three working full time its kinda hard to pull three grand outta my **** but I'll know shortly if I can take it home
. If so expect a bunch of picture
Thanks.
