Well I just checked my differential and I couldn't feel any fluid. The car has 204,148 miles on the clock. I read that it takes 80w-90. Should I just stick to that or go higher and what brand should I go with?

any obvious leak areas. yes standard gear oil would probly be best. dont want to upset the norm. could use high grade but at this time would be pointless. its not going to correct any wear and may speed it up. also synthetic would leak more.

I didn't see and wet spots at least not around the cover. I really couldn't see around the axels.

I'm not expecting any miracle fix i just want to know what's wrong with the car. If the noise stops then I found the culprit and will have to take a closer look at the gears.

I added the fluid and it took just about an entire quart. Should I be looking for a rear soon?
