Was this a junk yard engine, and was it complete or was the intake off? Had the injectors and fuel rail been removed? If the injectors are removed without releasing pressure at the fuel rail first, the gas will release into the intake manifold, run down into the heads, through any open valves, down into the cylinders, past the rings, and into the oil pan. If that's the case, then don't sweat it, but certainly change the oil.

oil was changed, before i ran it, it was freshly pulled from a camaro that had just came in at a junk yard, it was complete, and as for performance not sure completely as we only ran it through the yard but ran smoothly

probly be a good idea to have the injectors cleaned and flow tested.
