Gas Mileage?
This summer, I have to start commuting more to work (after graduation) (approx 40 miles there back), and in the fall college. School is about a 30 mile commute from home.
whats the gas mileage for a LT1 Z? Ls1?
Should I opt for a 3.8L instead

Not sure about the mileage on the 3.8 we have. Alot of mileage depends on how you drive it as well as the type traffic you are driving in. All I know is that my son is really happy with the mileage he is getting compared to the 11 mpg he was getting in the AWD explorer.

I get in the 31-32 range on the highway running about 70 with my 3.8. My understanding is the V8 can hit 28-30. I did notice a drop off on the real cold days more like 27-29 but as soon as it warmed up she came right back to 31-32 highway.
BTW I was commuting 55 miles one way and I now do 33 one way. I have done this a 5 different cars and the Camaro owns all . My Sunfire got a little better milage I could even say a lot better during traffic jams, but the 3.8 is push around 215 ponies and with the 5 speed it is fun to drive. To say the Sunefire was boring would be like saying black and white TV is a little dated.

So you'd probably have to get a stick to get #s like that..
how sensitive is the Camaros w/ manual? Ive tried driving my dads 3.8L wrangler and its harder then hell to drive...but our powerstroke is a breeze to drive w/ the 6 speed

http://fueleconomy.gov for the EPA mileage ratings, which are of course pretty easy to beat if you know how.

when my 94 was stock with the stock 7.5 gears it got good mileage like 25 highway 19 city but thats with a six speed and not having a lead foot(maybe somtimes tehe x]) but now with the 411s its a differant story

My '97 V6/5 speed has the Y87, so the rear ratio is 3.42 rather than 3.23, but I can get around 30+ on the highway if I keep it around 70. Stop & Go kills that pretty quickly, of course, and I35 in Texas is frequently a parking lot.
My 22 mile commute is 8 highway/14 in-town driving with moderate traffic, and I'll average 22-24 mpg unless something really ties up the road. I'm pretty relaxed on the commute: not aggressive.
