Default Gas leak

I have a gas leak and i found where it is leaking from, but i have no clue what the thing where it is leaking from is called.I'll try to explain it. It is leaking on the drivers side part off the engine right next to the coils. The fuel lines come into it i think, and it looks likea round tube about 1in or so in diameter and mabey 2 to 3 inches long. The gas is spraying out off the back off it. Looks like it might be like a seal blown out or somthing.I think there is avacume line coming out off it too. Sorry if this dosent make any sence, but i dont know how to explain it any better. Any help at all would be very appreciated. Thanks

Be good if we knew what car you are working with. Wild guess is that you are looking at a fuel pressure regulator.

If it the pressure reg you have to replace it. The problem is that on the V6 the fuel reg it is permanently attached to the fuel rail. Some parts store have rebuilding kits for the fuel reg and you can fix it while it is still attached. Otherwise you need a new fuel rail & regulator, and that is usually a dealer only item.

Sounds like the pressure regulator indeed. Visit https://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/mak,CHEVROLET,1996
select your make, model, and engine size and search for 'Fuel pressure regluator'. Scroll to the fuel/air tab and open that. You should see about four or five different parts. That should help. Refer to your Hayne's manual (every motorist needs one for EVERY vehicle they own! That, or MOTOR All-Data!!)

I ripped out the fuel rail and replaced the regulator. Runs great now. Thanks for the help.
