ok, I have the 3.8.
And i've narrowed the issue down to 3 things...
either the regulator, the pump itself, or the oil pressure sensors.
what do you guys think?

What testing have you done to conclude this? If you are just making a list of things it could be you want to add Security system, Fuel filter, wiring harness, computer system itself, Fuel pump relay and I am sure a few more.

The oil pressure sending unit failure should allow the engine to start but then shut right back down.

I hope to make my car a monster again! it has a new as of dec 2 2009 255lph pump in it with a 1 year warranty. so I doubt the pump itself is bad, although i guess it is not impossible.

as to the testing I have done, I replaced the relay, checked the fuse, changed the fuel filter, put a new gas cap on, and checked the lines/wiring for connection issues.
as soon as i find my meter im going to check to see if the pump is getting power. that should point me in a decent dirrection.

Gorn-I suspect that my security system could be messed up in some way, but how would i go about doing any further testing on it?

thetal1- your camaro looks amazing.

You did not mention that you did a fuel prussure yet. The normal process I would use is:
1.) Do you hear the pump running when you first turn the key on.

Yes, do a fuel pressure test
No, Check for voltage at the pump.

You can get a fuel pressure gage from Harbor freight for about $20.

The budget pump that sells at all the parts stores (airtec, or something like that) runs about a 20% failure rate in the first year.

Gmed- Sorry about that... it was just way too good not to jack. and i'm sortof new to the whole forum thing and haven't gotten around to figuring out how to create a new thread... heh.

Gorn- I removed the pump to double check a few things since i realized my meter is crap. I found that the pump is only getting 1-2v compared to the 12v it should be getting, I'm really not sure what to do about it since there's a million possibilities from there... Computers are great like that.
