Fuel Pump

my sisters grand prix does that. it will always read full while shes driving and than if she sits at a light it will drop to empty, kinda odd to me. anyways its an issue with the sending unit, theres a float that reads the level of the tank and sends a signal to the gauge. if it really bothers you you can test the sending unit (im not quite sure how but someone here does) and if thats the problem you can replace the sending unit. otherwise keep track of your miles and measure your fuel like that.

You might have a loose/broken/cracked/frayed/grounded out wire that leads to the sending unit.
Or, a corroded/loose/badly connected plug up in the bulkhead.
That's all the "/'s" I can think of at the moment!

Yes, I had a problem with my gas gauge not working correctly and saying it was full.
I also had a problem where the pump would not prime sometimes.
Both were fixed with a quick repair ofthe wires behindthe backleft seat. The connector that plugs into the sending unit it there.
