Default Flow restrictive to heater core

the flow reducer that is on the line that runs from the block to the heater core is leaking i had it break once but it was just a crack in the plastic so i patched it but now its leaking on the crimp so its shot. is it needed? if i just remove it will i be messing up the flow of coolant in the block? i would just run a hose from the block to the heater core

just add a double ended nipple where the restrictor is. part of the heater hoses is aluminum to withstand the heat from the exhaust. you would not want that to be rubber.
