Default first time camaro buyer

Forgive me but I’m new to Camaros. I’m thinking about buying a 1995 or 1996 3.4 or 3.8 liter Camaro. Which one would be more reliable? I’m looking at buying one for no more then 3,300 since I just need something to get to and from school. Reason why I’m looking at this type of car is because I love the Camaro, and think it would be a nice car to mod later. I heard there are head, valve problems. Is this true for the 4th generation Camaros? Thank you for any help.

i got my 94 3.4 fer 2 grand...given the front end was previously smashed up and crappily repaired and the engine acts up occassionally, but it was a steal at that price

3.8 is going to be the better engine for a car that size, more pep and better gas mileage. Reliability-wise I would put them both pretty high. The 3.8 might have the edge, but the 3.4' architecture is also very solid.

I found a few 1995 to 1999 cars that are camaros, and firebirds withen my price range. I think right now its down to a 3,500 1999 firebird, and a 3,400 1996 3.8 Camaro. Both are autos though.
