Default finally got a camaro but is has security issues

okay i bought the car from a friend of mine it was working fine for him he had a little trouble with the security (found out later because the wires to the lock cylinder were bad) but he put resistors in and it worked. then he got t-boned and the body shop said they would fix it and insurance would pay. then they tore it down and said it would cost more so insurance wouldn't pay long story short he finally made the body shop put his car back together but it would not start. before the car was a daily driver at the shop however the security system locked up and the car had to be towed home after about a month of racking his brain he sold the car to me

i know that the security is the problem because i can jump the starter motor and the engine will run for about two seconds
so i found a mod online to build a signal generator (http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/70lt1/vats.shtml) that you plug in where the theft deterrent module goes it tells the ecm to unlock the fuel rail and starter. i built it and was going to hook it up but i cannot find the theft deterrent module
i did some quick searches and didnt find any thing on it

so my question is where is the theft deterrent module on and '96 3.8
thanks for all the help
also if you know anything about this signal generator fix please let me know or if you have any better ideas

thanks

I know it's too late now, but if the car was running when it went into the body shop, why did your friend accept the car back not running? Since it sounds like the body shop messed something up, they should have fixed it, or had it fixed.

yes 1996 thanks

umm, i dont know. the reason the body shop upped the price was because the fender was welded onto the car ??? something like that but the tore into the car before they found that. so when they told jeremy to come pay for his car because insurance would not most of the interior was taken out and then thrown into the back seat and they would not put the interior back together unless jeremy paid for the work. i dont know all the details he was going to sue but some things fell through and he didnt he filed a complaint with the BBB and had talked to some attorneys but i dont know how all that turned out

with all of the people who have security issues one would think this kind of informations would be easier to find

if anyone knows where it is approx. that would be helpful
or i was reading today that the theft deterrent module might be part of the ECM is that the case?
if so does anyone know of a reset procedure that i might try

thanks
