Default exhaust question

ok so for those of you who dont know i have a 94 3.4l v6 5 speed that is all stock, no performance upgrades at all.

my question is what is the worst that could happen if i decided to just cut the muffler off the car? or what is the downside to doing this? i live in florida where i dont have to pass emitions tests or get the car inspected.

its just gonna be temporary until i get a few other things fixed on the car and get a new exhaust setup, however i cant take the dang boring silence of the car anymore...its driving me crazy haha

Go to your local gun shop and buy a set of ear muffs. They will come handy after you do away with the muffler and go on a long trip. Doing away with the muffler won't damage the car, bur will **** off your neighbors, and possibly the Highway Patrol. lol

haha didnt know it would be that bad, ive cut mufflers off of alot of my vehicles and never had any hearing issues or being pulled over for it. i was just making sure it wont damage anything

My stock muffler fell off, and yeah it was really loud. It was fun for a day, but much nicer once I got a new one on there.

I drove my car once without a muffler. I bought one that day and installed it. It sounded sweet without it on during idle but any drive was insanely loud.

Not only will it be loud, but your muffler gives you a lot of the sound, just toss a cheap glasspack on for a few months, then do the catback or whatever you have planned.

I've heard the stock Z28 is a good replacement and it doesn't sound bad

Yeah, I think Chaotic94 did that swap. If I remember correctly, it didn't sound bad, especially for a 3.4

Key thing is to get an exhaust that will make your car respectable. Not annoying. We drive Camaros, not Civics.
